Let's write!

Women over 40 with ADHD minds — get the old stories out of your body and onto the page.

Welcome to
A Room of Our Own.

Hello, friends.

Women over 40
with ADHD MINDS —

For years, you've been telling yourself stories about you being "too much" or "not enough."

You've been telling yourself stories about being scattered, unfocused, always coming up short.

You've been telling yourself stories about how your mind is broken and you're not good enough.

What if those stories you have been telling yourself aren’t true?

Creating a daily writing routine gives us an anchor in our sometimes swirling days. When we know we can return to the page for 15 minutes—to write whatever arises, without judgment—we build a quiet strength inside ourselves.

Building a writing practice is both grounding and freeing—it creates a space in your day where effort meets ease, and where your voice can truly sing out strong.

When you do this in community with other women over 40 with ADHD, you'll come to know that you're not alone.

Developing a daily 15-minute mindful writing routine will allow you to see how you've been talking to yourself, unkindly, for most of your life.

And then you can write the true story of who you are.

When you do this work in community with other women over 40 with ADHD, you'll come to know that you're not alone.

I'm Shauna.

I'm a 5-books-published writer, James Beard award-winning author, and deeply experienced writing teacher.

I'm also an exuberant goober.

When I was diagnosed with ADHD at 55, everything changed. Now I move my pen forward every day, capturing the beautiful mess of life, reimagining who I am with each story I write.

I guide women over 40 with ADHD to create a 15-minute daily writing practice. Together, we discover our voices and learn to trust ourselves again.

Because your stories matter. The details of your life matter.

Let me show you how to reimagine the stories you tell yourself.

"Being in A Room of Our Own has reduced my time on social media.

Here I find connection, inspiration, humor, and support. This space feels like a cozy room filled with friends who understand where you're coming from."

—Sara W.

I have been surprised, sometimes shocked and humbled at what this safe space for expression has allowed to emerge from my body’s memory revealing my personal story. I would recommend this group’s approach to anyone who wants to find a safe space with other women, and within themselves, to find, reveal and express their own personal story. May you learn to trust what emerges.

—Anna B.

There once was a woman on Vashon
Who, in the most extraordinary fashion
Gathered women to write
And shout out their might
Because joy's not a thing we must ration
She welcomes us in
To trust what emerges from within
We can write from our heart
Or about stinky farts
"It doesn't have to be good!" she says with a grin
With garlands of words we adorn her
With songs and magical fauna
She's now fifty seven
Our shepherdess from heaven
Our inimitable teacher, our Shauna

—Amy B.
